How is he your ally? Does he just stay in the background and give you support like Adeleine in Kirby 64 or does he fight enemies along side you like the traditional Super Star partner?

Well he's on the background and his face spins to the next tree. When enemies are nearby he gets to attack with apples or whatever he spits
Ocassionally drops a apple that restores part of your health
